Length: 6 months to hire
PayPal is looking for a UNIX Systems Administrator for technical and
leadership support in its top notch Network Operations team. This
candidate should be an energetic and a well-rounded UNIX Systems
Administrator with proven technical experience and sincere enthusiasm to
be able to support PayPal’s site and suite of services in a 24/7,
dynamic and fast-paced growing E-commerce production environment. We are
looking for someone who is versatile technically, has the aptitude to
increase technical breadth, can provide team leadership, and the
attitude and personality to help grow and maintain a World Class NOC
organization. The key responsibilities of the position are:
· Work within a NOC team to provide front line support of
PayPal’s production site and services
· Proactively monitor and troubleshoot production systems to
identify discrepancies and potential problems using Big Brother, Hobbit,
Tivoli and other NOC monitoring tools
· Provide phone/email support to all of eBay/PayPal’s internal
customers
· Closely manage change to the production site to maintain
stability and availability
· Work with multiple teams of various technical disciplines,
typically via a conference call, to not only fix issues but able to
provide timely status and complete updates in corresponding ticket(s)
· Make sound decisions in extremely short time frames under
immense pressure in a complex technical environment
Job Requirements:
* 5-10 years of Unix/Linux/Solaris experience
* Advanced knowledge of operating system internals, file system
structures, and machine architectures in a UNIX/Linux environment
* World class verbal and written communication skills with customer
satisfaction as the main focus
* Ability to keep abreast of technological changes and innovation
and their applicability to the company's goals
* Advanced experience with Mail, DNS, TCP/IP
* Intermediate LAN/WAN experience
* Working knowledge of relational Databases preferably Oracle
* Experience with web development technologies like HTML, XML, XSL,
Java
* Working knowledge of SAN technologies, Oracle, PERL, AWK, SED,
load balancing technologies, and shell scripting
* Competent skills and experience with supporting Veritas Cluster
Server, Veritas Volume Manager, Oracle, WebLogic, and Apache web server
