anyway.  try the ubuntu install again.  if you tell it to resize the
ntfs space it might fix the partition and the fs too.  If not, you will
probably have to do it with parted, qtparted, gparted, or some
equivalent tool.  You can probably use fdisk too.  but it wont' report
the fs size so you'd have to be careful that you dont make the partition
too small.
