audio player

Not really sure what you mean by "primary player" with reference to 
icewm.  I set up xmms as a helper app in mozilla, and have used mplayer 
for streaming media.

Check out http://georgetoft.com/linux/QAF/webradio/index.shtml - it may 
help.  With recent distros, this seems to just work out of the box.
