wireless - UBUNTU: how do I configure with specific ESSID?

Ok, my apartment has been invaded with another Wireless hub, probably upstairs. when I open up wlassistant or just do a network restart, it apparently tries to get a dhcp from it.

Also when getting it from mine, I have been getting messages like renewal in 122 seconds or something stupid like this.

This only started when I got invaded I think. As my wireless has been running fine up to this week.

Anyway, how do I specify (in what config file) that I always want ESSID = xxx ?

Also, whats the problem with getting back messages about having to renew in 2 minutes???
