The product specification from the manufacturer website states:

Memory
   • Configured with 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (both memory slots may be
       occupied)
   • 256MB(min)/4096MB (max), 2 memory slots using 256MB, 512MB,
       1024MB or 2048MB PC4200 533MHz or PC5300 677MHz DDR2
SDRAM, dual-channel support requires two memory modules of
       same capacity and clockspeed

What I hear you say is that if the two memory modules are of the same
size and speed but are from two different manufacturers they will not
support dual-channel. Is that what you are saying?

I apparently have a single 512MB module already installed. I wanted to
double the RAM with a matching speed module to have more space and
dual-channel speed. But, I also wanted to buy just one module if possible.
