.
1) What is the best (simplest) Linux font viewer?

I was about to download 'opcion' but it looks enormously
complicated with a zillion tiny files. So I wondered if
there might be something simpler.

2) Speaking of downloads, is it better to download files
and then install them, or use the default 'Ark' installer?

Also, when the 'Ark' installer fires up, there is a blank
input window labeled "Search:" which I am guessing must be
for entering a destination directory. Is that correct?

In the list of a zillion file names for 'opcion' I also see
a whole bunch of subdirectories (which seems excessive to me).
Is it "normal" to have so many files in so many different
subdirectories? Among them, just a few of the subdirectories
shown are:

com/jgoodies/... (with a bunch more subdirs under this)
com/xlreader/shared ... (with yet more subdirs)
FontViewer/components ... (with yet more subdirs)
