Thanks for your help.

I did a new install.  No errors now just blankpage.

I ran phpinfo() - no extensions.ini referenced.

I added the extensions.ini in /etc/php.d/

and restarted httpd.

Still blank page.

Thanks again - any other suggestions much appreciated

Does this mean you gave up there?

Follow advice of other mail about phpinfo(). Find out where your 
extensions.ini should be. 

Try creating it with the line I suggest and restarting httpd and testing.
