Question: ping

It goes back to why is anyone banging on your IP address?  I get a 
couple thousand scans a week, but nobody has ever focused on my IP 
address.  (Well, there was one guy from Argentina, but an e-mail to his 
ISP stopped that pretty quick.)

I suggest looking at your firewall rules and making yourself invisible. 
  If setting up iptables is not your forte, use something like IPCop or 
SmoothWall on an old PC.   If you need an old PC, I know a company 
selling them on ebay for under $30 each.  Or just pick up an old 
Linksys/DLink firewall.  Either way, for about $30, your problem is solved.
