If you need to learn C++ in a short time frame, check out Accelerated  
C++ (ISBN: 020170353X). Awesome book and gets the important stuff  
across really easily and quickly. Knowing another language or two  
beforehand helps a ton, and, since you already know Java, you should  
be fine.
