Ubuntu 6.06.1 problems

You should only need pppo[ae] if you're running your dsl modem in bridged
mode, which I highly doubt. Your Linux boxen of any flavor should simply
have a standard nic interface (ifconfig, probably eth0), configured with
dhcp turned on so it obtains its IP configuration (address, dns, gateway)
from the dsl modem (which also acts as a DHCP server, unless you have a very
old dsl modem). Which brings up a (possibly important) question: what
brand/model of dsl modem are you using?
