I know that Red Hat systems set users home directories as 755 rwxr_xr_x

There are some who want privacy for users home directories so others
can't peek inside, in which case, 750 would be more appropriate but it
also depends upon group memberships - as I typically use a common,
primary group membership for all users and then to keep users home
directories private, 700 would be the octal representation.
