SLC vs. MLC, MMC vs. SD

CF cards are marketed on the same speed scale as SD/MMC cards (as are MS, SMC, xD, TF, rs-MMC, mini-SD, etc...).  Remember, however, that the X rating is usually a burst read-rate, and won't tell you how the card performs in a digital camera.  Check the sustained write performance in the card specs to see which card is really faster for your digital SLR.
