I have one machine that I have Linux and Windows installed on it.  Where 
  /dev/hdc would be I have one of those removable hard drive trays.  I 
have two hard drives to put in there.  One has Linux on it and the other 
  I use for backups.  In CMOS the machine tries to boot from the cd/dvd 
first, then from the secondary master, then the primary master.  So when 
I put in the drive that has Linux installed on it; the machine boots 
from that.  One could always do the same, but in reverse to occasionally 
play games under Windows on a machine that normally is a Linux box.
