strange erratic behavior

Josef,

memtest86 seems to be the one most distros use and is also available as a
self booting diskette.  If you want one and can't find it send me a private
message with your address and I will mail one to you.  OR, I can try to
remember to bring one to the east side meeting next week.

I hate to say it, but JIC you have not done so, be sure to check all your
connections and focus on both ends (adapter and monitor) of your video cable
and even the video card if you have a separate card.
