OT: What FS is the Windows XP recovery partition?

I will try mounting the partition with a newer version of Knoppix -
though 3.3 should have also been able to recognize it, if it was vfat. 
As for cloning the disks, the suggestions for using dd were quite
helpful.  I found a step-by-step guide to using Linux to clone a Windows
XP drive at www.nilbus.com/linux/disk-copy.php.  I will report back with
the results when I try again later this week.
