I created a new /etc/udev/rules.d/10-m130.rules file with that last line
in it.

I now get this information too!

I issued and got the following:

$ pilot-xfer -p /dev/pilot -b TestDir/

   Port not connected, sleeping for 2 seconds, 0 retries..

   Device not found on /dev/ttyUSB1, Did you hit HotSync?

   Unable to bind to port: /dev/pilot
   Please use --help for more information

$

Tried as root and got the same result.

I'm going to research the device ID config file as in that previous link
on gnome-pilot.  We'll see how that goes.
