I have installed it recently to do some video editing myself. However,
family, work, etc. etc. etc. have all kept me from even trying to figure
it out.

Other than providing the links to the Cinelerra sites, I can't offer
anything further on how it works or if there is anything better.

I can tell you, however, that it is open source, designed for a *nix OS,
and is a free download.
