Mozilla + Java = broken

I have:
-Red Hat 8.0
-Mozilla 1.0.1
-Blackdown Java RE 1.4.1

I thought I have installed it all right, following the instructions with =
the=20
JRE and other places on the web.  However, no java running.  For example,=
 I=20
go to http://www.javatester.org/enabled.html and I get the plugin icon wh=
ere=20
the java should run.  About:Plugins does not list java.

Any hints on where to look for error messages or configuration goofs?
