I'm no expert on the matter, but I think that most garage-doors are AM
modulated.  It seems that you should be able to hack one with a pretty
generic demodulator and an oscilloscope.  I don't know if any
prepackaged tools other than those programmable openers that can do any
door that they have at Lowe's.  You could probably get one of those to
scan pretty easily if you hooked it up to a parallel port.
