Multiple OSes, 1 Mozilla profile?

Yes, that is the concept but it is different in trying to implement.
I already have a profile in
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\adayley
created by Windows 98. I want this to be the profile and mail folder location that Windows 2000 and Linux use too.
I just installed boot for Windows 2000 on the same box. Mozilla created a profile for me under Win2k in
C:\Documents and Settings\aland\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default
I want to point the Windows 2000 Mozilla to the profile established under Windows 98. Just setting the "Local Directory" under "Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings" does NOT load the mail folders present in the Windows 98 created profile. AND the profile manager will not let me point to a already existing profile, only create new ones.
So, back to my question... How do I get the Mozilla Mail under Windows 2000 to use the profile and mail folders already created under Windows 98, without wiping out it out?
(I'll deal with Linux once this part of it all is handled.)
(Carl, are you out there?)
Alan
