The one with the most promise is likely Samsung's Contact, which was
formerly HP's Openmail. HP got scared to compete with Microsoft so sold
to Samsung, who quietly improved it and now is coming on strong. They
apparently have several fortune 1000 companies using it.

It is not free software, but at least its more solid than Exchange and
gets people off a really bad operating system and its corresponding evil
life cycle/licensing scheme.
