We should be able to get this going without re-installing the O.S. That's a
Windows solution. :)
What exactly happened when you tried to install Red Carpet? What packages
could it not find? Did you try downloading and installing them, first?

If you do decide to upgrade to RedHat 8.0 (and there's not necessarily
anything wrong with that-- I upgraded to RH8 a few months ago and have been
running it trouble-free ever since), you should be able to download the 5
ISO's from redhat.com, burn them to CD-Rs, pop in the first disc and go
through the Upgrade process. I usually do a clean install when I upgrade,
but when I went from RedHat 7.3 to RedHat 8.0, I decided to do an upgrade
instead. The process was very easy, and I had only a couple minor problems.
YMMV, of course, so make sure you have a good backup before you start.
