evolution - getting/sending mail

I've asked this before and didn't save the answer, so please forgive
me.

I'm getting email on pop.earthlink.net, but I send thru qwest.net.

The userid/pwd for sending is different than receiving. How do I get
that entered properly?  I'm getting a msg now that says 
SMTP server qwest.net ... not support auth type plain.
