Technically if we are smart they drive them right into free software and
not out of business.

Corporations are not greedy. Individuals are. It just so happens
individuals have learned that if you form a corporation, you can hide
behind it and be greedy to excess hurting those you come in contact with
but leaving your conscience (and legal responsiblity) to the name of a
corporation.
i.e. I dont think the employee's at Enron were necessarily evil or greedy
(and they were the corporation so to speak). It was the greedy few at the
top control the entity that were greedy beyond belief.
