automating proxy discovery

I have used a .PAC file and a registry entry to set that on each client. I
believe the feature you are looking for is called WPAD - Web Proxy
Auto-Discovery Protocol. There seem to be several other ways to automate
this, but as long as you are using a Netscape or IE from the last few years,
you're OK.
