PPTP, E-smith, Linksys Router

You setup the Linksys to pass thru PPTP (Port 1723 on the DHCP'd WAN IP
address) to what ever the IP address is of your E-smith server? Most
equipment (I am not familiar with the Linksys) the WAN IP can be 0.0.0.0 in
the pass thru setup. The other IP address in the pass thru setup should be
the IP address that you E-smith server uses on its connection to the Linksys
router. If you do not specify that IP address it will not work.

Good Luck.

Tom,

The internet service is provided by Here, Inc. via a DSL line(and a Cisco
678 in bridged mode). Was your dsl modem in Bridged mode?

I was having a similar problem with an esmith on a Cox network. Finally,
was tipped off here to unplug the power from the dsl modem and replug it in.
This reset it and it connected fine.

I have a E-smith server setup on a private network (192.168.1.*) that
connects to the Internet using NAT on a Linksys Router (with the latest
updates). I have the E-smith server setup to allow PPTP connections and it
works just fine from any host on the LAN side of the Linksys router, yet no
matter how many different ways I configure the Router, I cannot seem to make
a full connection to the server (it hangs on verifying user name and
password....). I have searched the Internet for information on this yet I
find differing responses. Is this even possible with this router? With
Linksys, does PPTP passthru mean that it is only one way?
