Force install the old RPM (--force --nodeps), copy the old library to
someplace safe, then reinstall the original RPM, and copy the old library
back to /usr/lib (be sure not to overwrite the new files).

I've done this occasionally when library RPMs have spec files that insist
the "new" version must replace the "old" version.
