MPlayer is what I use. It's not much on the gui side but you can skin it
if you want. It plays video and audio with most availible formats and
codacs. DiVX, MPEG-1\2, MP3. DVDs, Video for Windows, Indeo, and (some)
Quicktime. but check it out for yourself. You need GCC 3.0+ to really
make installation smooth, but it's worth it.
