After dinner, a dip in the pool, and time to unwind a bit, I offer my
observations.
In general terms, traffic sucked. If I were a vendor who paid for a booth, I
would not be impressed in the least. For PLUG, and AZOTO, the experience was
much better. We met lots of Linux users who were interested in joining us
and a lot of people, both Joe Sixpacks and business owners, who expressed
serious interest in Linux and Free software. I dare say that close to half
of the traffic stopped by to see what we are all about.
We did good, but then again, we didnt need to pay for booth space and
elaborate materials and such. We showed the other vendors, quite a few of
whom are Linux-friendly, that substance beats glitz easily.
There was lots of interest in joining this list, attending a meeting, and
even coming to the Install Fest II. We made a few good contacts with local
businesses who may improve the already impressive list of supporters and
contributors.
You all did very well. If you do as good tomorrow, we may make some more
serious inroads into the Redmond lock on the Phoenix metro area.
If you are going to be there at the close tomorrow, I need someone to take
custody of the banner and its attendant bungie cords, what is left of the
business cards, and the name tags.
TIA
