I know your issue has been resolved, but any SUSE PPC LINUX v7.3 users dialing into the Internet using wvdial may be interested to learn that it also phones home every time it connects. Modify the "/etc/wvdial.conf" file to include the line "Check DNS = 0". This issue may be a feature with wvdial in general; consequently, other distributions & versions may also have it activated as a default...
