I am sorry that I have not gotten around to making a report of the event to
the list. It really went rather well, I thought.

In a word: Great!

Representing PLUG was Jim, Jay, Mark and myself. The teacher that was
hosting, Ralph Prowell, asked each of us to introduce ourselves and our
experience with Linux. Turns out that Mark is not as newbie as we all
thought, at least in terms of time since his first exposure to the OS.

Jim then spoke first, projecting his web based presentation on the wall
through a school provided Linux box running Konqueror. He talked about
PLUG's history, some of the key people involved, how we have grown to 2
monthly meetings plus Stammtish and Devel. He pointed out our loose
organization that can actually get things done.

I then spoke in more of a bragging mode about all the good that we do for
each other. The great caliber of people we have lurking in the list and even
posting answers and attending meetings on occasion. I tried to show my
excitement about the group. I discussed the proof of the quality of support
the group gives being that my boss lets us meet at my office and even springs
for food on occasion because I can get answers when we need them.

I would guess that 10-12 SuSE demo CDs were distributed and everyone got a
PLUG web address bussiness card. There were some good questions from the
group too. The teacher was impressed and talked about creating regular
events involving PLUG there at the school.

Overall, I think it went well.

BTW, Ralph said the school is looking for an additional *nix teacher or two.
Must have a BS or BA of some kind and the knowledge, ablitiy and desire to
teach the subject. He knows all the particulars and said that he would post
something on the list about it. If you want his email address to contact him
directly, email me off list and I will provide it.
