Syncing Palm V with J-Pilot

Actually, it is only when using a USB port cradle
that you hit the Palm's HotSync button first.
With a serial port cradle such as I have, you
must hit "Sync" first in J-Pilot, then on the
Palm. Anyway I solved this one by just switching
to the other serial port and got it working.
Now I can sync, but whenever I try to use the
installer to put on some new software, J-Pilot's
little log screen just stays at
"Installing whatever.prc"
And the Palm Pilot eventually pops up with the
connection between the Palm and the PC has been
lost. Has anyone seen this problem?
Thanks.
