As it has been stated, the KDE and/or Gnome managers are slower than your
usual lightweight managers such as Windowmaker (oft called wmaker),
Blackbox, etc. However, Mozilla and most other netscape-based products tend
to be slower on any platform. If you'd like to see a browser load quickly I
would recommend Opera for Linux.

It is easily my favorite of the graphical web browsers for X. If you
download it, I recommend the "QT Static" option.
