where O where is my Palm?

Time for stupid newbie question of the month:  I
install Mandrake 8.2.  I plug in Palm V cradle on
COM1.  I run J-Pilot (v0.99.1).  No sync, because
I don't know what to put in for the serial port
in J-Pilot config.  I've tried /dev/pilot,
/dev/cua0 & 1, /dev/ttyS0 & 1.   How do I know
what COM1 is?

Help?
