Replacement for Microsoft Project?

In past lives, I've been quite dependant on MS Project. Managing large
projects, this is a decent tool (large like 10 to 20 workgroups, 50 to 100
milestones, hundreds of inter-dependant timelines, deadlines and
headaches!)
There are a couple of alternatives, though the only I've seen that are in
the same league as MS Project run only on the windows platform.
phpgroupware is not in the same class of software application as MS
Project. Two very different tools.
Not to knock phpgroupware and many other open source web based group
collaboration tools. There are several out there, great stuff.
If you can wade through this bunch 'o html, lots of choices for groupware.
(If it's a mess, post me back on the list and I'll clean it up & repost,
short on time at the moment, gotta run)

I don't know if Mr. Project runs on m$, but phpgroupware has a project
module and it's all a web interface, so it runs whereever you want :).
Ideally we need a project planner that runs as a GUI for day to day use, but
also has a web interface for clients who don't have the app installed.
