First off thank you to all who responded, I did read the security how-to but it seemed a little outdated. After reading the replies to my initial security inquiry I have decided to at least install and configure ip-tables.

George, dang, this is a lot of work, guess I better get started now as next monday I will have my nose back to the Grindstone. Thanks for the website.
