I've been very happy with my IBM A30. I run Windows XP, Debian Linux, and
Solaris 8 on it quite well. The only major problem is the internal
WinModem, which won't work with either Linux or Solaris (though I've heard
rumors that IBM is working on making Linux drivers available). Everything
else works perfectly under Linux, and the key things (Ethernet card, video
card, etc.) work under Solaris.

My only complaint with this system is its size. The A30 is a big, heavy
laptop. This is fine for my needs, as I use it mostly on the desktop
and don't haul it around much. If you need a laptop to carry in your
backpack all the time, however, this might not be the best one.
