If you have a persistent connection, here is a little tip I learned: at least
one of the routers along your path should serve you time. Everyone,
especially your ISP, will love you for saving the bandwidth.

In my case, I did the following to find a local server:
`/usr/sbin/traceroute yahoo.com`

Starting at the first server and working down I typed:
`/usr/sbin/ntptrace server.name.com` (hit Ctl-C to quit)

Continue until you find a server that responds with something like:
server.name.com: stratum 3, offset -0.113915, synch distance 0.05582

In my case (Cox.net), the servers I use are:
chnddsrc01-gew0303.rd.ph.cox.net
chnddsrc02-gew0303.rd.ph.cox.net

PS: I'm sure there is a much better manner of doing this, but it was a
one-time thing for me, so I didn't invest a lot of time into it.
