Well, first off, according to Microsoft, you don't _own_ the software -- you
only own the license to use that software in the way _they_ see fit (see the
Windows XP EULA that states that M$ can shut down whatever 'net service
you've ordered, regardless of reason). Second off, by not using the M$ OS
you save time and money by not having to deal with an M$ license audit, much
less the fact that you won't have to worry about the possibility of being
bullied into a long-term and costly service agreement.
