open a terminal and go to /etc
then open inetd.conf and edit this line

#auth   stream  tcp     wait    nobody  /usr/sbin/in.identd in.identd
-P/dev/null

Make sure the # is there..  otherwise it will run. But doesn't work
correctly because identd is not run as a standalone daemon.
