KDE sound

not getting much traction from enigma-list so I thought I would toss it
here in case anyone has a suggestion...
This concerns Redhat 7.2 (enigma) and KDE 2.2.1 / sounds as user

Nope - cannot play /usr/share/sounds/startup1.wav
cannot get sound from cat /usr/share/sounds/startup1.wav >
/dev/dsp
at least - not as user craig
Gnome plays cd's - this must be a problem with KDE and upgrading from RH
7.1 -> KDElibs 2.2 -> RH 7.2
I guess I will remove all of the KDE that I can and then reinstall
unless anyone has a better idea.
