I've heard much good things about the Blade 100's, actually, and was
considering procuring one at some point before I realized I didn't have
much use for it at the time. I think the cheaper stuff is probably the
smartest move they've made in a while. E10k's are nice and fun to work
on, but who can actually afford them? :)
The x86 box was a former employer who did *not* believe in OSS, and wanted
to replace all our Linux boxen with x86. As far as I know, to this day,
Linux is still in use, where they haven't upgraded to some stupidly
high-calibur sparc box.
