pdf print security

I am trying to convert about 500 pdf files we have just aquired to
have the ability to print.

I can open them in 'gv' just fine, but unfortunatly we live
in a windows world where everyone needs to open
in Acrobat.

'pdf2ps' and then 'ps2pdf' seems to work on most documents; but those
that are not standard paper size (8.5 x 11) do not survive the conversion
well.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
