Keith,
It's a marketing cash cow for those companies that promote something that
costs them very little. I am not familiar with what other companies really
do for this situation, but with $14.95 a month for dial up and for a static
IP (I have lot's hanging around), I still make the appropriate couple of
dollars from each person. It's just the way it's set up.
They figure in order to maintain that IP address, it's costly for the
company. It's not for me because it's a flat rated fee to my company, no
matter how many people are using static IP's or how long they use it. It's
my class C range of numbers, not someone else's.
Maybe that's why they charge so much because they are being charged lot's
and have to pass that onto the customer. I have sold dial up for $16.95
for about six month which dropped from $19.95 a month. So I pass this onto
the customer.
I am still working on getting the Tucson area facilitated. Just hoping
it's soon. And then I can really take in the customers if I advertise for
$16.95 with or without a static! Thanks for the thought.
Thanks.
