Having Problems

A few questions.....
I assume you mean Oracle Standard or Enterprise Edition database? The client
is merely the transport between databases.
The last time you installed it was on a Red Hat (or other distribution)
version prior to 7.0, right?
The Oracle binaries are compiled using glibc2.1. Red Hat v7.0 and above use
glibc v2.2 or above.
If you check the technet.oracle.com site, you will find instructions in
installing glibc2.1 STUB libraries which will allow the installer to proceed
normally. You should also make sure you use Gnome desktop when installing
(KDE does not play well with the installer).

The Ars Digita site is specific to Red Hat v6.2 if I remember correctly. I
have followed the instructions on this site to install on Mandrake 6.? and
had no problems. The message boards on Technet are full of problems
installing on Red Hat v7 and above and contain some very good help also.

Good luck.
Donn
