reporting error logs

I used a copy of logcheck from www.psion.com and using my own sendmail
server set it up to send emails to me when something goes wrong, even with
an alias so it pages my cell phone as well..  It's very easy to set up, and
works great..  This might not be quite the answer you're looking for, but it
atleast will alert you to something. instead of tail -f 'ing it..

Also, try mailx
do a 'man mailx'
I don't remember the exact line to type...
Just cat it into a file and attach that to your email!
