Keith,
He is (probably) referring to the two 'Microsoft' virii that you mentioned,
both beginning with the word 'Windows'. The fdisk program is for low level
hard disk partitioning and will efficiently wipe your hard disk of any sign
that Windows was ever installed. The propensity for your computer to
experience 'random hangs' is a sign of the instability of Windows, and
alternatively NOT a symptom of Linux.

Please understand the gentle (and sometimes not so gentle) ribbing that
windows receives on this list.
