Here's some info I hope you find helpful.
To find the master browser on your network segment:
nmblookup -M "-" -T
Once you find the master, then query the browse list:
smbclient -L nameofmaster -W yourNTdomainname -N

# tail /var/log/samba.log.nmb | grep 'name server'
Samba name server foobar is now a local master browser for workgroup barfoo
on subnet x.y.z.0
# smbclient -L foobar
that should work..
