fetchmail & mutt

Greetings All:

As I'm starting to become Linux dependent, [hey, I got my printer and
palm working too with some special help] I was considering setting up
fetchmail+mutt.  After NS trashed my mail filters I figured I have
nothing to lose.

I'm admittedly ignorant in these realms. Is the fetchmail+mutt combo
reasonable or am I biting too much off?  

Perhaps there is anther mail program to better fit my needs?
