I am having a hard time trying to figure out what's going on in my
computer...

First off, the only way I can play mp3's through my soundcard is through the
KDE's mp3 player. mpg123, Realplayer, and other sound-playing programs are
unable to open /dev/dsp for some reason, or have problems with the headers
in the mp3 files.

Another problem I have is when I am playing music(through the KDE player, of
course), every time I move a window or do anything in a program it
interrupts the music. I desperately would like to find a solution for this -
one of the primary uses of my linux box, at least right now, is for mp3
storage and playback.

Any suggestions? Do I need a new sound card? A new video card? I've also
noticed that if I leave my computer alone for a while the screen display
freezes - for example, the clock doesn't refresh. Once I move the mouse
around, the screen refreshes itself. Could this be a part of why I've had
system crashes?

My hardware config: Ensoniq (ens1371) sound card, Speedstar A55 8 MB PCI
video, 3dfx Voodoo2 16 MB graphics accelerator, AMD K/3 333 processor.
Attached is my boot.msg and lsmod output.

Thanks
